Every friendship is unique and there are certain codes of conduct within each relationship. We learn as kids to treat others the way we’d like to be treated ourselves, and we generally follow this in our friendships to make them work. Every once in a while we mess up and our friends can easily forgive us because they know how much we care. But there are certain behaviors that are deal breakers for many friendships. Here are the top friendship killers to avoid if you want to keep your friends close:
· Ditching your friends for a guy/girl. This is just uncool, no matter how much you might like a new guy/girl in your life. Your friends understand that you might want to spend time with someone new in your life, but there’s a way to do it that doesn’t involve dumping your friends. Breaking plans, not returning their calls, and ditching them to hang out with a new guy/girl is sure to instantly irritate your friends and isolate you from them.
· Stealing their boyfriend/girlfriend. This is a definite friendship killer because combines betrayal and heartbreak. Knowing that you are the cause of their heartbreak is unforgivable in most friendships. No amount of good deeds or apologies on your part can repair the damage if you go after your friend’s boyfriend or girlfriend, and they’ll never be able to trust you again.
